LOSE WEIGHT WITH MEDITATION?
You might think I’m nuts, but the answer is YES!
How can this be, you might be wondering??
Allow me to share my own experience…
My meditation teacher Michele has taught me to slow down, quiet my mind and to go inward in order to feel grounded and more in control of my thoughts. Although I try and meditate daily, I don’t always get to it, but when I do, I feel like a different person, in so many ways!
What I notice most, is my ability to “think and pause” before grabbing food. I don’t know about you, but I tend to grab for “extra” food when I’m not even hungry because I’m either bored, frustrated, anxious or dealing with some emotion that I don’t want to feel. It feels WAY better to put something in my mouth, numb my feelings and make the sadness or uncomfortable feelings disappear. Meditation has made me more aware of this pattern and habit, giving me some space to change. Simply put, meditation slows things down, allowing me a moment to just BE and BREATH.
Meditation also regulates 2 important “weight loss” hormones, cortisol and insulin. In addition, it bolsters feelings of love, compassion and connection to others as well as to yourself. In time, with consistent practice, you’ll notice that hunger and cravings start to shift and change.
It’s so important to take a few minutes out of each day to tune into YOU. You’ll experience a beautiful shift in your emotional state with just 5 minutes a day. As Michele would suggest… commit to 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 5 weeks and tell me how you feel!
There are many pieces to the weight loss puzzle, but I will tell you that meditation will make a huge difference in your life and will absolutely become one of your favorite weight loss tools in your toolbox.
